POSITION OVERVIEW

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Child Protection Investigations Team Supervisor.  Under administrative direction, this position will plan, review, and coordinate the activities of a team of professional investigators engaged in conducting child abuse/neglect investigations.  The position will make critical decisions on case related activities and provide after hours supervisory coverage.  This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in providing leadership of a team of child protection professionals focused on keeping children safe.  DCFS offers a competitive compensation plan, excellent benefits, and a pension program.  The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent organizational skills and strong leadership capabilities.  We invite you to join our innovative team to help make a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of Illinois.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serves as Subsidy Support Team Supervisor
  • Serves as working supervisor
  • Establishes and administers regional adoption goals and objectives
  • Consults with staff responsible for adoptive resource development, including professional, paraprofessional, contractual employees, and students
  • Establishes and implements a team-based program of staff development and training for subordinate staff to ensure the ongoing communication of rules and procedures and social work practice knowledge, methods, and skills
  • Administers the adoption assistance program for area of oversight, including primary approval or denial of applications, recertifications, revisions, amendments, and terminations
  • Provides input into regional adoption budget projections
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a master’s degree in social work or a related human services field from a recognized college or university
  • Requires three years of progressively responsible administrative child welfare experience with an MSW OR four years of progressively responsible administrative experience with a master’s degree in a related human services field

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
