Neurology Clinical Educator

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford (UICOMR) seeks a full-time Neurology Clinical Educator to join our innovative and dynamic educational team. Reporting directly to the Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties Chairperson, this position combines clinical practice with Neurology education. The Neurology Clinical Educator will spend 50% of their time performing outpatient clinical work with one of UIC Rockford’s affiliated institutions, and 50% will be dedicated to Neurology Education.

In this role, the Neurology Clinical Educator will work directly with Phase 2 neurology clerkship students, providing one-on-one and small-group teaching to foster foundational neurology skills. Teaching responsibilities include precepting students in the applicant’s outpatient neurology practice, conducting observed history and physical evaluations with formative feedback, delivering small group lectures, teaching the neurology examination and diagnosis, and facilitating case presentations.

The Neurology educator will lead clerkship orientation, conduct mid-clerkship feedback sessions, assign grades, and collaborate with counterparts on the Chicago and Peoria campuses to ensure quality and consistency across programs. Additional responsibilities include attending committee meetings, contributing to curriculum development, and exploring new program opportunities such as sub-internships or electives in interventional or subspecialty neurology. Clinical responsibilities include precepting students and residents during outpatient neurology practice. Research opportunities are available.

The ideal candidate will hold an MD/DO or its foreign equivalent and be Board Eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology at the time of hire. They must have an unrestricted Illinois license to practice medicine or be eligible to obtain one before starting. The candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and contribute to an inclusive and respectful learning environment that values diversity and fosters collaboration. The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $250,000 to $350,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience while also considering internal equity.
