
Family Medicine Faculty Physician with OB optional (Clinical Physician)
Overview
The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford (UICOMR) and the UI Health Mile Square Health Center – L.P. Johnson Rockford are pleased to announce a joint full-time position for a Family Medicine Physician. This role encompasses both clinical responsibilities at the health center and faculty duties within UICOMR, providing a unique opportunity to blend patient care with teaching, mentoring, and scholarly activity.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Examine patient and obtain medical history from patient, parents, guardians to prepare patient profile. Review developmental and medical history of patient.
- Participate in diagnostic staffing to correlate findings, determine diagnosis and develop appropriate treatment recommendations.
- Discuss findings and recommendations with client, parents, agencies, etc. as needed.
- Responsible for medication management (includes but is not limited to writing prescriptions, monitoring efficacy, monitoring adverse reactions).
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Faculty Responsibilities
- Faculty supervision for clinical care is provided by family medicine residents in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Direct clinical patient care and management of a personal panel of patients.
- Presentation of didactics to support medical education.
- Advising and mentoring of residents.
- Participation in resident and faculty recruitment activities.
- Precepting medical students on their family medicine clerkship in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
- Participation in scholarship activities to include dissemination.
- Participation in various committees related to the mission of the College of Medicine
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent from an LCME-accredited institution
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine (board certification required by start date).
- Eligible for an unrestricted Illinois medical license.
- Current valid American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of academic experience
- Obstetrics experience, Point of care ultrasound skills
- Fellowship training
