Skills Over Stereotypes

Tuesday, June 16, 2026 (9:30 AM - 10:30 AM) (CDT)

Description

In this workshop, HR and business professionals will better understand how profiling and “best fit” thinking can unintentionally limit employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Through a hands-on job-matching exercise, participants examine how assumptions—rather than objective information—often drive hiring and placement decisions, leading to missed talent and potential legal risk. The session reinforces the importance of evaluating candidates on a case-by-case basis, focusing on essential job functions, individual strengths, and reasonable accommodations, and equips employers to make fair, compliant, and inclusive employment decisions.
