About
Since 1988, Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) has carried the waste-reduction, anti-litter, and environmental conservation message into area schools, both public and private. Annually, about 2000 children and adults are presented with this message through programs conducted in their school classroom and in the Webster Environmental Education Center located in the Rockford Recyle Center. We are thus able to reach children in their most impressionable years and, hopefully, start them on a life-long adventure of energy and environmental conservation.
Keep Northern Illinois has 3 Recycle Centers, Rockford, Machesney Park, and South Beloit. Please visit www.knib.org for locations and items we take or don't take. We answer the phone for the Household Hazardous Waste site. You will find what they take or don't take on the website, also.
KNIB is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. 700 affiliates across the US are educating their communities about the environment, Beautification, and litter cleanup. Each affiliate is mostly Volunteer run including Keep America Beautiful and KNIB's recycle centers and programs
