About

U.S. News and World Report ranks UIC 7th among the colleges of pharmacy in the nation. UIC pharmacy students pursue the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, which is the highest level of professional education for the field. The patient-centered curriculum helps develop confident, caring, practitioners with the ability to adapt and meet the challenging needs of society, as well as advances in the pharmaceutical sciences. In 2010, the College of Pharmacy added an additional campus in Rockford, IL where students can benefit from small class sizes and personalized attention. The College of Pharmacy is viewed as a single institution with one accreditation but two campuses: Chicago and Rockford. Students in Rockford complete the identical curriculum as students on the Chicago campus. The core classes are taught via distance education using state-of-the-art technology. The College of Pharmacy offers PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy. These programs have specialization tracks, reflecting additional specialization within the overall degree program, the research interests of the faculty, and future employment opportunities. The college offers Master of Science degrees in Forensic Science, Forensic Toxicology, and Comparative Effectiveness Research, as well as an online Pharmacoepidemiology Certificate program The College of Pharmacy also offers highly-regarded post-PharmD general and specialized residencies in a wide variety of areas in addition to research fellowship opportunities.
